Mighty delivery of titanium towers from Ö-vik

Two huge titanium towers with associated bends and cones are delivered today from Örnalp Unozon in Örnsköldsvik. An order from Walmet in Sundsvall to the end customer Värö pulp mill on the west coast, eight miles south of Gothenburg.

The pulp mill is undergoing a major rebuild to increase capacity and has, for environmental reasons among others, chosen to invest in towers made of 100% titanium, a maintenance-free product for at least 25 years.

The towers are 37 meters long, just over 3 meters in diameter and the largest cone is just over 6 meters in diameter. The total weight per tower is 25 tons (titanium only) and everything is designed and manufactured at Örnalp Unizon in Ö-vik, says owner Leif Lundgren. Installation and assembly are also handled by the Ö-vik company, which has previously supplied towers via Walmet to Mörrum’s pulp mill and to Finland.

The transport, a total of five trucks, runs via the E4 (but not the cones, which are too wide and must be transported via the hinterland) at 50 km per hour, but not between 15.00 and 20.00 due to the traffic situation and the two towers are expected to arrive in Värö on Thursday.
